Machinists take a stand against the
provincial government
(Dec.14, 2006)
The Provincial government is allowing raw
timber,
our natural resource to be shipped
off to Asian
countries for processing. British Columbia has
processing mills throughout the province, these
are thousands of well paying jobs that keep small
communities prosperous. Timber is a wealthy
natural resource of BC, why would we ship raw
logs to other countries. Our finished natural
product rates as some of the best in the world,
our mills have been profitable and our product is
in demand throughout North America and Asia.
Why sell raw logs?
The only answer is corporate greed.
Gordon Campbell and this Liberal government
aren't interested in the working communities they
are only interested in making sure their corporate
friends get their massive profits. The land these trees
come from is public province owned land, and the Machinists are calling for
a ban on exporting our
raw logs
