Coastal Ford Update

Machinists at Glenoak Take A Stand
To Gain A Fair Contract
(August 28)
On Thursday August 24th and 25th the
bargaining members of Coastal Ford voted on the company's final offer.
The result of this vote was a resounding 97% NO to reject the offer.
The Union and the company have agreed to schedule August 30th as the
next day for bargaining.
The employer has indicated the he is considering serving the employees
with a 72 hour lockout notice. Should this happen the employees will
consider this as a notice to remove all personal items including tools
from the workplace within the 72 hours or their items will be locked
inside company premises.
Outstanding issues are wage increases consistent with the cost of
living, security language and the right to refuse automotive parts with
asbestos in them.
(July 17)
On Thursday July 13 the Union met with the company's bargaining
representative. Although some strides have been made to close the
gap on some of the issues there are many larger issues that need to be
addressed, this coupled with a refusal to meet before August,10 has
forced
the Union to serve a 72 hour strike notice.
"We need the employer to address those issues we have put before them
and bring our Collective Agreement on par with other Ford Dealerships."
Business representative Andrew Tricker
